About this photograph

I stopped at Fauskasandur while travelling along the coast of East Iceland. The beach is known for the large solitary rock standing beside its black sand, but what caught my attention was the whole view—the curve of the shoreline, the waves rolling in from the Atlantic and the mountains disappearing into the clouds. For a brief moment, sunlight passed through the mist and softened the otherwise rugged landscape.
