About this photograph

I photographed this sunrise on the beach at Shkorpilovtsi, using the old weathered tree trunk near the shoreline as the main foreground. The rising sun appeared behind the wood just as a wave reached the beach and spread white foam across the wet sand. This driftwood has become a familiar subject among landscape photographers. Its unusual shape works equally well beneath the warm light of sunrise and against the night sky, while the open beach and the long pier in the distance leave plenty of space for different compositions.
