Early in the morning, the centre of Ruse has a very different rhythm. The Monument of Freedom stands at the heart of the square, surrounded by carefully shaped gardens and the architecture of the old city centre. Seen from above, the symmetry of the square becomes much more pronounced, while the warm light slowly reaches the rooftops and buildings beyond.
