About this photograph

There are many wooden stairways, bridges and handrails along the Canyon of Waterfalls trail. They make it possible to cross the steeper sections beside the Gerzovska River and have gradually become part of the character of the route itself. I stopped at this particular staircase because the steps seemed to disappear uphill between the trees, capturing the feeling of the hike — a constant climb through the dense forest, with the sound of water never far away.
