About this photograph

Rock formations rise above the shore of Pchelina Reservoir near the former rowing base, creating a strong foreground for night photography. Here the Milky Way stretches above the water while a small human figure and a warm light between the rocks give a sense of their scale. The location offers an open view over the reservoir and good possibilities for photographing the night sky, but reaching the rocks requires care. The slope is covered with loose fragments from the eroding rock that can easily slide underfoot. Moving across them is difficult even in daylight and becomes considerably more dangerous at night, when every step needs to be chosen carefully.
