About this photograph
I reached the shore at low tide, when the retreating water had revealed the rippled black sand around Hvítserkur. A thin layer of water remained in front of the rock and gave me a clear reflection, while the overcast sky kept the light soft and the details in the basalt visible. From this angle, the 15-metre sea stack really does resemble a huge animal bending down to drink from the sea.
