The basalt arches of Gatklettur rise from the Atlantic coast near Arnarstapi on Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Waves move through the dark volcanic openings below, while a broad line of distant mountains continues along the horizon. The vertical composition follows the rough foreground rocks toward the arches and the open sea beyond.
