About this photograph

I photographed Kirkjufell from the familiar viewpoint beside Kirkjufellsfoss, but on this clear day the light revealed far more than its distinctive outline. It brought out the horizontal layers running across the mountain and the warm autumn colours of the surrounding grass. The waterfall and the river form the foreground, while the pointed summit rises on its own above the open landscape of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
