About this photograph

I photographed this humpback whale during a boat trip from Dalvík into Eyjafjörður. It surfaced close enough for me to capture the curve of its back against the snow-streaked mountains along the fjord. The encounter lasted only a few moments before the whale disappeared beneath the dark water, leaving us watching and waiting for its next breath.
