About this photograph

Before taking the more symmetrical photograph along the road, I captured Poggio Covili from the side. From here, the long cypress avenue can be seen stretching across the hillside towards the farmhouse, while the low sun casts repeating shadows over the grass. The wider view shows how naturally this familiar Tuscan landmark fits into the rolling landscape of Val d’Orcia.
