About this photograph

I took this photograph from the tower of Hallgrímskirkja, looking straight down Skólavörðustígur towards the centre of Reykjavík and the old harbour. The statue of Leif Erikson and its patterned square form the foreground, while the long street leads through rows of colourful houses all the way to the sea. The vertical composition allowed me to follow the city from the church grounds to the waterfront in a single frame.
