About this photograph

This wider view from the tower of Hallgrímskirkja shows central Reykjavík spreading out between the church and the waterfront. Skólavörðustígur runs through the middle of the frame, surrounded by the colourful roofs and compact houses that give the city its distinctive appearance. Beyond them are the harbour, the calm waters of Faxaflói Bay and the distant coastline beneath the low Icelandic clouds.
