About this photograph

I photographed Siena Cathedral from Piazza del Duomo, standing almost directly opposite its façade. From here, the three portals, the large rose window, the rows of sculptures and the contrasting marble can all be seen together. The clear sky and the nearly empty square allowed the intricate decoration of the cathedral to stand out without distractions.
